What are our judges looking for? (Points breakdown)
- Audience Rapport (10 points)
- How much does the audience like you?
- Are they involved in your performance?
- Do they feel invested in your performance?
- Are they really enjoying you?
- Do they stand at the end? Do they clap for you at the end?
- Are they cheering throughout your performance? Do they clap along with you?
- Tip: You want to make them feel like they are a part of your performance.
- Showmanship (10 Points)
- How do you take your song and make it a full performance (For Example: If you are singing a Country song, do you have a country themed outfit? If you are singing a slow/romantic song, do you have that beautiful evening gown on?)
- Are you getting involved with the judges up top?
- Are you using the entire stage?
- Have you engaged each and every member of the audience and all the judges?
- Tip: We are looking for the full package performance.
- Natural Ability (10 Points)
- If you have the talent it will show, but you need to make sure you show it to us.
- Know your talent – What is it that you are good at, and what are you bringing to the table? (For Example: If you are a singer, make sure that you have chosen that perfect song and you bring it to us on that day.)
- The rest we can really judge based on what you show us.
- Overall Performance (20 Points)
- Are we wowed at the end of your performance? Are we left in awe? Are we feeling what you felt on stage?
- Are we emotional?
- You need to ensure that everyone – audience and judges – are engaged, and that they are feeling exactly what you want them to feel with the special performance you have just given.
- Tip: Videotape yourself doing your audition, take it home and watch it. Look over it and ask yourself: Was I entertained? Did I love it? Did that make me feel emotional? Did it make me feel like getting up and dancing? Because these are the things we are looking for in your performance, and they are exactly what we want to see.
